In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Although perpetual Waqf is the most preferred and the highest form of Waqf, a Waqf can be temporary and time limited. This is the position of the AAOIFI Shariah Standards based on the Maliki school of law. [AAOIFI Shariah Standards, Hashiya al-Dasuqi]
According to the Hanafi, Shafi’i and Hanbali schools, the Waqf contract must be perpetual and not temporary. [Bada’i al-Sana’i, Mughni al-Muhtaj, Sharh Muntaha al-Iradat]
And Allah Alone Knows Best
