The following conditions are pertinent when stipulating the beneficiaries of a Waqf:

  1. The beneficiary must not be sinful activity or a person seeking support to engage in something sinful.
  2. One’s intention should be correct when establishing a Waqf.
  3. According to some scholars, a perpetual beneficiary must be stipulated in the Waqf constitution. For example, after citing the specific beneficiaries, one must have a generic charitable avenue such as “the poor” or “the mosques”.
